Upstream Security has recently found that Snaptube, a popular video app that is only available in third-party Android app stores, is engaging in millions of suspicious transactions. This has put the 4.4 million consumers who downloaded the app on the hook for more than $90 million in unwanted charges.
Snaptube is similar to Vidmate in that the two apps use similar domains and URLs. They also share similar traffic patterns. However, Vidmate is not listed in Google Play, which means it’s hard to tell if the two apps have been used to commit ad fraud.
